About the role

Reporting into the Head of Safeguarding & Welfare, you will manage an effective Safeguarding and Wellbeing support service across club operations. You will ensure identified partners associated with the Club implement effective safeguarding and wellbeing arrangements for the activities they deliver with the Club.

You will be an ‘expert in the room’ who brings to life the Club’s Safeguarding and Wellbeing strategies by developing ‘best in class’ working practices. You will champion the rights of children and adults at risk across the Club and all of its partners so that those engaging with the Club can achieve best outcomes and their wellbeing can flourish. Regular reviews of club and partner operations is integral to ensure they are compliant with relevant legislation, industry regulations and club policies and procedures.

Your impact

To do this, you will have expert knowledge of safeguarding legislation, safe working practices, including the responsibilities of sports organisations and associated agencies.

Your experience will include, management of a statutory support or pastoral service, management of a team of staff and involvement in evidence-based audits.  An understanding of elite sport, and the demands placed upon young athletes, would be advantageous and the ability to develop strong working relationships working sensitively and confidentiality is paramount.

You will be educated to degree level in a related discipline or be able to demonstrate equivalent industry experience and you will have also successfully attended the FA Safeguarding Children and FA Welfare Officer’s Workshops. It is also essential you have a level 3 Advanced Safeguarding Qualification or equivalent.
