About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Academy Scout to join our Academy Recruitment team, where you will operate within the Club’s established framework, player profiles and scouting methodology to support informed and effective decision‑making across Talent Identification. You’ll work closely with the Academy Recruitment Director, Academy Scouting Director and Scout Analysts to identify academy‑level players across the UK and Europe, while managing three Regional Scouts across the British Isles.

This is a pivotal role in a highly competitive recruitment environment, requiring deep understanding of development pathways, player traits, scouting insights and emerging talent trends.

Your impact

In this role, you will:

*         Lead the identification and monitoring of academy‑level players across the UK and Europe.

*         Manage Regional Scouts (NI, ROI & Scotland) and ensure structured, high‑quality reporting and six‑weekly cross‑checks.

*         Provide detailed Talent ID insights, maintain accurate coverage records, and support decision‑ready processes for high potential academy players who fit the Newcastle United players profiles.

*         Produce high‑level reports for senior Academy recruitment leaders, outlining opportunities and key emerging players.

*         Influence decision‑making as part of the core recruitment group, ensuring we remain ahead of competitors.

*         Support analysts with pitching videos and contribute to structured workflows and data‑driven insights.

*         Travel internationally as required to assess target players

You’ll play an active leadership role, ensuring CPD is in place for your team and ensuring compliance with people processes and safeguarding expectations.

What you’ll bring

*         Significant experience within a high‑end Premier League recruitment environment.

*         Detailed football knowledge including game models, playing styles and technical/tactical/physical/psychological player traits.

*         Strong discipline in following workflows and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

*         Experience of key industry systems (e.g., Wyscout, Hudl, Sportscode, Studio).

*         Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining team cohesion.

*         Strong attention to detail and the ability to make well‑substantiated recommendations.

*         Understanding of how data contributes to recruitment decisions.

*         Growth mindset, adaptability and comfort with evolving recruitment trends.

*         Ability to meet strict deadlines with professionalism and composure.

*         FA Level 3 Talent ID (or equivalent).
